Job purpose

The nature of the role involves applying leadership and management skills in the areas of operational performance, customer service excellence, sales, innovation and safety /environmental responsibility, to ensure delivery of the key financial and non-financial targets for the site. Success relies upon the application of excellent business and people management skills and a need to develop positive relationships and team working in the Unit through involvement, engagement, communication and continuous improvement processes.

Principal accountabilities

  • Establish and live a zero accident mentality and focus on all aspects of OHSE
  • Ensure compliance with internal and external regulations and the control of risks.
  • Responsible for profit and all elements of a P&L at the Site. Set objectives for the Business, the departments and teams. Develop budgets and ensure departments adhere to them
  • Deliver on safety and financial results as well as strategic KPIs (e.g. PBIT, RCFR, DIFOTIS, Working Capital)
  • Apply strategic planning to determine company financial and other objectives and long term goals, in accordance with BG/BU strategy
  • Ensure high customer satisfaction. Maintain and improve processes related to exceeding customer lead-time, quality and delivery expectations
  • Develop staff to maximize potential. Set employee goals and objectives. Monitor staff performance including performance reviews. Recognize, coach and develop high potentials
  • Determine staffing requirements. Hire, train, and terminate co-workers as needed
  • Handle employee relations, directly, as well as with Works Council
  • Drive actively Outperformance Culture and action plans
  • Promote company's mission and values internally and externally
  • Periodically review performance data (financial and activity reports) to monitor and measure profitability, productivity, goal progress and activity levels
  • Work in close relationship with the BU sales team to position plant to attract and grow profitable business
  • Initiate and participate in cross functional teams to commercialize innovations and R&D projects and to reinforce business with profitable growth accounts
  • Cultivate an organizational culture of continuous improvement with focus on the development of organizational and employee Continuous Improvement (CI) skills and the utilization of various C.I. tools to grow sales, reduce cost, increase throughput, improve quality, reduce inventory, and facilitate general positive change
  • Continuously challenge the plant costs, processes and capabilities in order to get the maximum in term of cost, service and flexibility
  • Work closely with the Purchasing Team to reduce the total cost of ownership for all purchased goods and services
  • Maintain all assets in good conditions, prepare capital expenditure cases to invest in new technologies/processes that respond to identified market needs and support cost competitiveness
  • Lead and manage negotiations and communication with local and regional government bodies
  • Represent the company during seminars and conferences and other official events
  • Report performance in a clear, concise, timely and professional manner to BU


1.Formal Qualifications And Experience

  • University degree. MBA is an advantage
  • Minimum 10 years in progressive roles in a manufacturing environment
  • Minimum 5 years in a senior operational leadership role of manufacturing operations in B2B markets
  • Experienced working with Continuous Improvement and Lean Manufacturing tools and processes
  • Track record of successful and fast NBO (New Business Opportunity) onboarding and product qualification in highly regulated markets
  • Experienced in budgeting, income statement, and variance analysis
  • Experience in Project management is an advantage
  • Ability to work successfully in a matrix organisation
  • Result oriented and target driven
  • Sound leadership skills – make each other successful / A “Leader”
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and the local language
